SMEC South Africa has announced the appointment of Tumelo Molope as Head of Group HR, with effect from 1 November 2015. Molope has also been appointed as a director to the board of the consulting engineering company.
Molope obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town. She also completed a postgraduate Management Development Programme through Stellenbosch Business School.
Molope commenced her career in the financial services industry before venturing into Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) consulting.
She later decided to leverage her degree in human resources (HR) and became an HR professional, working for companies such as Sasol and Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys in the areas of diversity and inclusion, organisational development and talent management.
Prior to joining SMEC South Africa, Molope worked on some major projects both as an HR professional and as a B-BBEE consultant.
In her capacity as HR Change Manager, she was project manager on Bowman Gilfillan’s strategic growth in Africa project.
As a B-BBEE consultant, she helped define and implement B-BBEE strategies for BASF, the Sugar Association of South Africa and Tsebo Outsourcing Group.
She has also worked on some Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects with Group 5 and Nedbank, providing B-BBEE advisory services.
