SKF extends maintenance intervals with new bearing unit

Bearing and seal manufacturing company, SKF has extended the passenger train wheelset maintenance intervals with the launch of its new SKF Passenger bearing 1.7 Mkm Cylindrical Roller bearing Unit (CRU). Launched at this year’s InnoTrans 2018 fair, the SKF Passenger bearing 1.7 Mkm CRU is a sealed and greased unit that has been developed to run 1.7 Mkm between maintenance intervals. More than half of South Africa’s coal plants low on stock

More than half of South Africa’s core coal plants are running low on fuel, with at least four holding less than 10 days of supply, and the country’s power utility plans on trucking and railing emergency stocks as far as 400 kilometers. State-owned Eskom Holdings SOC has 15 around-the-clock baseload coal stations throughout the nation, nine of which have less than 20 days of supply, spokesman Khulu Phasiwe said. South African unions sign three-year pay deal with AngloGold

Labour groups representing more than 60 percent of workers at AngloGold Ashanti, a major South African gold producer, signed a three-year wage deal with the company. The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union, UASA and Solidarity unions said they accepted the deal Monday. The sides agreed to raise pay by 6.5% for the first year and increases at the same rate or inflation – whichever is higher – for each of the following two years, Solidarity General Secretary Gideon du Plessis said in a statement. NEMC implements JPM’s order on North Mara Mine

Experts from the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) and Government Chief Chemist are analysing samples collected from water bodies, farms, wild plants and sand suspected to be contaminated by effluents from Acacia North Mara mine.
