Education and Experience:
A qualified Chemical Technician (e.g. N4, T3, diploma in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering) is required. A minimum of 3 years of general laboratory experience is required including experience (safe working procedures) working with gases, specifically oxygen and carbon dioxide. The successful incumbent must have good analytical and problem-solving skills, but must also be practical and have the ability to work unsupervised on his/her own and as part of a team. He or she must show attention to detail and have good interpersonal communication, planning and computer skills.


Key areas of responsibility include:
• Design/develop parts/aspects related to chemical bed under supervision of the Development Manager
• Do quality control on all chemicals used in production, which includes chemical analyses; purity- and density checks and batch control on all chemicals used in the production
• Operate the breathing simulator: Maintain gasses supply; perform calibrations; perform tests; document results
• Manage production processes related to chemical handling, chemical safety and the disposal of hazardous chemicals. This includes the development and maintenance of processes, documentation, implementation of processes, management and continuous improvement of processes as well as training materials and training related to these processes
• Manage the laboratory: Housekeeping; raw materials/chemicals; safety.
