Commissioning Engineer (Process-Mechanical) - Indian Ocean
Position Profile
Reporting to the Area Commissioning Lead or Plant Superintendent, the Commissioning Engineer is an integral part of the Owner’s Group Pre-commissioning and Commissioning team.
Main responsibilities include:

• Ensure vendors/supplier representatives/special contractors are informed of travel and site requirements including visa, language, special needs, medical/inoculations
• Assisting with the preparation of pre-commissioning packages and commissioning guidelines and instructions for the Process and Ore Preparation Plant;
• providing assistance to the turn-over process from Construction to Pre-commissioning with review of turnover documentation, inspection and punch listing of plant and other facilities and soft assets;
• Accepting care, custody and control of all systems, upon Construction Completion.
• executing the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for the Process Plants at the plant site and Ore Preparation Plant and off site pipelines;
• Coordinate all operations group personnel, maintenance personnel, vendor support and EPCM contractor testing and fix-up personnel involved in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities in an integrated team approach;
• Organizing the various pre-commissioning and commissioning activities under their direction and requesting adequate resources, and sufficient support from the Operations Group and site Contractors, to successfully complete these activities;
• Completing the pre-commissioning tests and adding the turnover documentation to each system for turn-over of care, custody and control of all systems to the Owner’s Team for commissioning and operation.
• Successfully demonstrating that such systems have met the design intent on behalf of the owner by managing the plant performance testing requirements, and providing guidance and assistance in during the ramp-up of the Process Plants;
• Ensure that the commissioning effort meets all site environmental, health and safety standards and procedures.
• Carry-out other tasks from time to time as required by the commissioning manager.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Metallurgical Engineering (extractive metallurgy) or Mechanical or plant operating and supervisory background with ~ 5-15 years experience of modern process equipment in a metallurgical, chemical or related industrial environment
• Familiarity with a Project environment and modern chemical & metallurgical plants and equipment
• Experience in commissioning and start up of industrial electrical equipment
• Excellent Problem solving and decision making skills
• Mobility, fitness and ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplined team
• Strong interpersonal skills and a Teamwork approach
• Extensive computer skills and familiarity with processes
• Sound communication in English (oral and written)
• Communication in French (oral and written) is a plus
