Miners, project developers, mining analysts, fund managers, investment specialists, ministers and governments will reconvene in Cape Town, South Africa from 1-4 February at the 16th annual Investing in African Mining Indaba (www.MiningIndaba.com).
Each year Mining Indaba is well attended by key industry representatives and decision makers. Organizers expect nearly 4,000 delegates and 250 exhibitors/sponsors at this year’s event. Participants represent nearly all the stakeholders in the mining industry value chain throughout Africa.
According to Timothy Wood, President of Arboradix LLC and this year’s conference chairman, “Mining Indaba remains the most valuable conference because of its networking facilities, focus on Africa, and ability to attract the most influential names in the mining business worldwide. The emphasis remains on qualified delegates, Africa's best mining, exploration and development opportunities and superior programming.”
Mining Indaba is a professional conference offering a comprehensive schedule of presentations, panels and plenary sessions. Included in this year’s line up is an additional half-day programme focusing on the outlook for various metals and commodities and best practice in corporate social responsibility – both expanded due to their popularity in 2009.
The programme opens with a welcome address from Her Excellency, Honourable Minister Susan Shabangu, followed by a robust mix of keynote presentations and company presentations. Topics span from African mining’s role in the global economy to the assessment of the commodity markets.
Two days of ministerial panels will provide a forum to learn about new mining opportunities from cabinet-level government representatives eager to secure new investments for their countries. Ministerial and government participation is expected from 17 African countries and Japan.
According to a survey of last year’s attendees, 88% reported that Mining Indaba enabled them to network with individuals that, otherwise, would have been inaccessible. 62% reported that Mining Indaba is the single, most important mining investment to attend.
Mining Indaba has raised billions of dollars and introduced the international investment community to mining interests throughout Africa. It is held annually at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town, South Africa and is organized by Mining Indaba LLC.
